Karen, I can honestly say I have no idea why they tasted good one day! Very strange. Please carry on for me in the Beet-Haters Club. I feel bad having left it minus a member.

I consider myself one of the lucky ones - I have always loved beets and still do. I'm a bit of a slow learner though, even after all these years I still sometimes freak out at the colour of my pee after a beet binge. There's often that split second moment when I'm, like, AAAAAA- I'm bleeding internally!!!!

I love it! They really are beautiful and can be utterly delicious, though I'm not sure I've ever had canned beets. I prefer seared with butter. Yum! Congratulations on your discover.

Roasting Beets with other root vegetables is a great way to eat them. Sometimes when eaten raw they cause my kids throat to hurt. Pickled Beets is also good.

Oh, Emma! I keep finding posts that I resonate with me - I'm all: "Me too!" - but not this one - sigh - I still don't like beets!

I WANT to, I do! But ugh. Their color is luscious, health benefits - yep, but taste - argh. My mother likes them, my (adult) kids like 'em, even my granddaughter.

Maybe in 2010? We can hope.

p.s. "Yeah, that was weird." That line, after the set-up for it, cracked me up!
